Llanipi

The fifth and highest rank of Mascote is that of Llanipi (pronounced Le-la-nip-ee) translated from Apache meaning “Amazing”. A Llanipi patch has an “M” with a thin border of white. This subtle change shows they have passed two full weeks of candidacy and stood the test of the Llanipi. The requirements are need to know and known only to the Llanipi themselves. A Llanipi is elected and tapped out only by Brotherhood and High Bark youth and they commit to candidate at the next summers Mascote Camp and play a senior roll.

 

Brotherhood and High Bark youth may also elect Brotherhood adults to be tapped and crowned Llanipi the following year at camp. Only 2 in 10 of the youth members of your chapter can be elected and they must be Brotherhood members. Adults are 2 per 20 and all those crowned Llanipi sacrifice their right to vote for new Llanipi.

 

“Alert to the needs of others” are the watchwords of the Llanipi.

 

Imagine you are 15-20 years old and a large 8 ft board painted with the token of the Llanipi comes up in front of the entire Mascote Camp. A deep drum begins beating slowly and then beats faster and faster to a sudden stop, two flares held by youth Llanipi spark, pop, and light each side of the board, and “MASS-CO-TAAAAA” is shouted three times separated by a single drum beat. The entire camp gathers and a Voice in the Wood speaks:

 

“To those whom by their service and devotion have proven themselves worthy, the Mascote rewards your deeds, YOUR NAME”, and with your heart pounding you run to the board and receive your rank or accept your candidacy. He or she who bears these tokens must never forget their true meaning. Good luck my friends!
