About Mascote Camping

The Mascote Camping Program was designed to bring American youth together in nature to teach and ingrain strength, socialization, and leadership through exciting outdoor summer camps that will foster life long friendships and experiences.

American Youth

Have you ever dreamed of hiking the wilderness trails that were worn down under moccasins hundreds of years ago? Do you hear in your imagination the almost soundless dip- dip of canoe paddles or the ring of an ax of an early pioneer hewing a home out of the American wilderness? Have you followed in your minds eye or seen a movie about the covered wagons on the trek across our country? Have you thought of the men and women who built this country by their determination and devotion?

If you live here you are a descendent of these people whether you or your parents were born here. You are the guardian of what they built. You are the American on which our wonderful country depends. If you believe in and look forward to the many rolls you will play in your life and they will truly make a difference, you have the spark of the Mascote.

A Mascote

Today you are an American Boy or Girl. Before long you will be an American Man or Woman. It is important to America and to yourself that you become a citizen of fine character, that you are physically fit, mentally awake, and have a strong moral compass.

Mascote will help you become that kind of citizen. But also, Mascote provides fellowship and fun. Yes it is fun to be a Mascote! It is fun to go hiking and camping with your  best friends for up to three weeks of the summer... to hike, to swim, to dive, to paddle a canoe, to shoot a rifle, to make a campfire. Follow in the footsteps of those pioneers from every part of the world that came to America and set out across its wilderness. Raise your eyes to the same heavens and stare into the glowing embers of a campfire and dream of the wonders of life that are in store for you.

A Leader

Mascote is much more than just having fun outside with your friends. Mascote is run entirely by youth leaders under the age of 21 years old and you must be 10 years old just to join. If you are not yet 10, study American History and try to find a Mascote wearing the “M” in your County and help them in some way and you will be one of us in spirit by providing them with a leadership opportunity, just by trusting them to lead you. If God is willing your trust will be rewarded.

Leadership positions and high honors and trusts of Mascote are only awarded by your fellow youth members whether you are a brand new Mascote or have earned the highest rank of “Llanipi”.

The Great Outdoors

When you are a Mascote, forests and fields, rivers and lakes are your playground. You are completely at home in God’s great outdoors. You learn to notice every sound, to observe
any track. Birds and animals become your friends. You taste the skills of walking noiselessly thru the woods, of stalking
close to a grazing deer without being noticed, of bringing a bird to you by imitating its call. You learn to find your way
cross-country by map and compass, to make a meal when you are hungry, to take a safe swim when you are hot, to make yourself comfortable for the night in a tent or under
the stars. You become a true outdoorsman.

Camp Mascote In Action

Between the Morning Flags and Evening Taps, the hours between are filled with activities and lessons to open their minds to the nature around them and inspire them to socialize and develop a moral compass, create life-long friendships, and hone the leadership skills that will empower and direct Americas future.
